Room to slow down
The Cabin at Five Acre Farms sits in Heathcote Valley, Christchurch. Designed by Brie Thomas and built by her brother William, it was completed in July 2020 as a place to pause and enjoy the surroundings.

Two pods, one quiet retreat
One pod holds the living space and kitchen; the other houses the bedrooms and bathroom. A covered deck links them, opening the cabin to views of the park and waterways. Cedar cladding, locally milled beech and a log burner give the interior its warmth.

The details that make a stay
Brie chose the interior pieces with New Zealand businesses in mind. Our FOLD Bedside Tables sit against the cedar wall, leaving the timber in view. Nightworks Studio lighting and linen from Città and Foxtrot Home complete the space.

Built into the room
“I love the simplicity of the MOT bedsides, and that they are so easily installed and look like a built-in feature rather than a piece of furniture. I didn’t want to detract from the cedar feature wall behind the bed.”
Brie Thomas

A little closer to home
An outdoor bath, a fireplace and plenty of space to look out. A reminder that a good escape can be closer than you think.
